Doctors welcome dark bulb

A new 'light' bulb that analyses and responds almost instantly to incoming light waves and then emits counter waves or a wave canceling light may prove useful in the treatment of certain ailments such as photophobia, migraines, insomnia and some skin disorders - although no precise application has yet been found.

“We have had some promising results with this system.” reported Dr Alberto Pessoda, who did much of the research associated with the groundbreaking technology. “Under normal conditions it is extremely difficult to create a perfectly light free environment. This wave canceling bulb establishes a pitch black interior zone with a penumbra around three meters across.” The makers, Black Bulb, admit that the current cost would be beyond the budget of most individuals but they are convinced that as more applications for the technology are found the cost will come down. “We are even exploring the possibility that the dark bulb could have a defensive military use.” said a spokesperson for the company. However, some security experts have expressed concerns that the technology could be used to evade CCTV surveillance and otherwise assist in lawbreaking.
