An unnamed investor, thought to be from overseas, has bought 'nothing' in the heart of Knightsbridge for a sum believed to be £4.25m. “It was bound to happen sooner or later.” said George Bittlescombe of Humple & Bradley the agents who handled the sale. “We recently sold a single room apartment extending to seventeen and a half square feet for a significant sum so this was always going to be the next logical step. Added to which, there are no maintenance or running costs attached to this property which is a considerable bonus.”
Mr Bittlescombe went on to say that the property (or notional demesne as it is known) situated between Lowndes Square and Harriet Walk, although something of a theoretical space, did have several benefits: good address, the excellent shopping of Sloane Street, and had numerous nearby transport links.
Title for the property does exist and derives from the period during the turn of the last century when registration of property with the land registry became compulsory. It appears that a former house, which had been demolished about fifty years before and replaced with the current buildings was registered in error. Thus the property, although it does not occupy any land or take up any space, can be said to exist in law.
