Lifestyle observers report that increasing numbers of people looking for guidance are turning to a new breed of guru. Hair analysts, they say, look at the hair, including the hairstyle, of the person seeking advice. “It is extraordinary how much you can tell about someone's personality and their state of mind from their hair: what condition it is in and what they have chosen to do with it.” says Helen Farquarson, a self-avowed hair analyst. “Some critics have accused us of practicing phrenology lite but that is unfair. There is a unique key to the character in each person's hair. With that key we can help them make sense of their lives and unlock choices that suit their personality and psychology.” It is not clear where the new fad originated but it seems to have spread rapidly over recent months, most notably in affluent urban areas.
